GSP Leads a Humanitarian Relief Effort in Peshawar, Pakistan

Global Sports Partners was privileged to lead a strong humanitarian effort on the front lines of relief in Peshawar, Pakistan by donating 201 food packets to those in need.

The invitation was extended to GSP in partnership with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association, The Provincial Youth Assembly and the Peshawar University Teacher’s Association to provide relief for the athletes and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vice President of the KP Olympic Association, Kfayat Ullah Khan, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of GSP and the Olympic Association:

The worldwide pandemic has created uncertainty and anxiety concerning the economy, and more importantly food security. GSP, the Peshawar University Teacher’s Association, and the KP Olympic Association strategized the best way to impact the current food situation in Peshewar, and the distribution was put into action. The collaboration of the organizations led to the production of 201 food packets that were distributed locally by the Olympic Association and Teacher’s Association.

The KP Olympic Association clearly expressed how the packets will be an encouragement, “Your donation (Distribution of food items among athletes) on the front lines of the crisis (of) resources will encourage the athletes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

The University Teacher’s Association commented they are looking to the future for continued cooperation, “We are looking forward in (the) future for mutual cooperation.” The Teacher’s Association was encouraged by the distribution of food, especially when it came from the philanthropic efforts of a sports organization.

“GSP is concerned with the entire athlete, and that means taking care of the critical need first so that training, development and future work can be successful,”

said David DeLaughter, the GSP representative for Pakistan.

The COVID-19 pandemic marks an unprecedented time in history and the efforts of all persons is necessary to recover and rebuild from work stoppage, whether that be recreational or industrial. GSP has considered their part in the engagement of helping at the grassroots level where they have representation in order to help rebuild and restore communities.

Kfayat Ullah Khan expressed his encouragement for GSP, and the efforts for relief,

“Your donation and support for the athletes will (have) immediate and long-term relief and recovery in vulnerable communities during one of the most challenging times we have collectively faced.”
